Heads up for you peeps in Portland–Fabric Depot‘s annual outdoor sale is in full swing. It goes for the whole summer, and some interesting, random stuff can usually be found there. I stopped by last weekend and was excited to find some good, weird stuff and lots of cotton knits.
Here’s the weird:
It’s some nutty polyester fabric. I’m thinking maybe a skirt would be good, but it’d have to be lined; otherwise, my legs and butt will be all sweaty (yes, you’re welcome for that visual).
And some knit:
The knit stuff shrank up like crazy in the dryer. As you can see, it is a double layer and looks very cozy. Since it appears we aren’t going to have a spring or summer here in Portland, the cozy will come in handy! Now I just have to get sewing. I wonder if I remember how to turn on the sewing machine?
That circus print would make a super cute tiny jacket of some sort. With poof or ruffle somewhere of course. Hey, keep your eyes peeled for 13 yards of something cute for my rattan set!! I still haven’t had any luck with that.
I miss you, come down here with your bro.
Hmmm…maybe I’ll have to run some “errands” again and make my way down to Portland. Not that I need any more fabrics….
I do NOT need any more fabric! I keep buying and then not sewing! I have a sewing block!
That circus print is totally weird and awesome.
That is one weird and funky fabric!
Hmmmm maybe you could do a simple jacket with a hood, and that it has one snap fastner on the front.
love how you call it “….good, weird stuff”
weird has nearly always been good in my book.
summer long outdoor fabric sale? omg could portland possibly be any more perfect for me?
Hey… absolutely love your blog… I can’t wait until I get my sewing machine back (moved out west and had to store it until I move back east… month and a half to go). That funky print is awesome… it would make a cute skirt!
I can agree with you on the not-much-summer thing. Although we’ve had a few hot days in Iowa, it seems that all we’re getting most of the time is rain.
And I love rain. But I wouldn’t mind having some more sunshine, please.
Seriously with the rain! The company I work for based out of Tigard does a variety of work for homeowners and we have so many decks that need to be stained it’s outta control!
I really hope summer comes. Preferably starting next week. With any luck it’ll be all rain, with a week and a half of 90 degree heat, then back into the rain again.
