For the sake of the group I decided I should really upgrade a bit. Since I can’t bring myself to purchase new running apparel (hello, you want $50 for something made with 3 pattern pieces and .5 yard of fabric?), I guess I need to make my own. So, I visited my opium den (known as Rose City Textiles), and my dealer Annette pointed me to the silkweight wickaway section. I could have bought more. Easily. Lycra and polyester may frighten some of you, but I could roll around in the stuff forever.

WHAT is that fabric with the sea creatures on it? Holy moly it is fantastico!
Holycrap. That stuff with the fish on it!! And it’s stretch? Too cool.
I think the rule should be that if you spend as much time and energy running as you do, you should be able to buy as much running stuff as you want. Crazy marathon girl.
Sometimes having something cute to wear is the only thing that gets me out the door. Not that I look cute in my running clothes. Like ever. But hey, I’ve got the fat and sweaty look covered so there’s that.
I’m wish I would accidentlly buy that coverstitch machine too!
That is some great fabric. Unique stuff that you don’t see often.
i think it’s time for therapy. rolling around in polyester forever?? really?
Hehe I love the fish material too!
Good luck with sewing your running clothes!
What I love about Lululemon is that I never walk out of there with a COVERLOCK MACHINE.
Overlock, coverstitch, whatevs.
I had t hat same accident when I bought my new sewing/embroidery machine! I may need to have another accidental purchase. Can’t wait to heare what you have to say about the machine!
Come visit me at http://sewforless.com/embroideryblog/index.php/2008/08/01/tiffanies-take-learning-how-to-applique/ for some great laughs!
I am so jealous! I got the same coverstitch machine last week, but I don’t have the pleasure of hopping into RCT in person. I can only drool electronically. You are so lucky! Happy sewing, can’t wait to see your new creations, especially those undies. Been kicking around the idea of making some myself. I, too, can’t stand the way mine digs around the legs and want to make some women’s boxer briefs with strategically placed seams for maximum comfort.
Andi
Gosh, I wish I could afford a set of cute lululemon gear for running. I’m in the midst of doing more sports bra shopping, because with my current schedule at the gym I’d go through 7 sports bras in 5 days.
I’m not doing too much on the running front itself right now. I want to buy the Nike Sportsband. I have to get back into training for my next race (not a marathon for certain). The elliptical and treadmill are just not good substitutes for street running.
I’ll be very interested to see how your running clothes turn out. You get right on that so that my curiosity can be satisfied. You are going to be sooo stylish.
I am squealing because you bought a coverstitch machine! I’m a tad bit jealous, but I don’t run unless chased by an attacker so you deserve it more. GREAT deal btw! Now get sewing!

Curse you. Now that I clicked through on the link, I want a sewing machine again. Maybe I should just spend the money for a basic newbie model… Then I could use some of my fabric stash and stop obsessing on and off about sewing machines.
well I am always jealous of your home grown running clothes…and now I know they have wicking fabric at rose city textiles? I may have to head down there! Oh and also learn to follow the pattern..maybe
That lululemon gear is like crack. One hit and you want more. Ask me how I know.
