I love the seasonal and limited-edition flavors of various candies, and is it just me, or does it seem there are MORE when the holiday season rolls around? Today I found these hot cocoa creme Hershey’s Kisses and of course could not resist (they had a bunch of other flavors, too, like the cherry cordial and the mint and the caramel filled, and they were also in this sort of fun, retro packaging).
They are really quite delightful. The texture is softer than the conventional Hershey’s Kiss. I think it’s due to the “creme” center. Really, the center is like a chocolate truffle, kind of light and crumbly. The chocolate is not super strong or overpowering. I think they really did try to mimic the hot cocoa flavor, because there is a slight hint of, I don’t know, powdered milk, maybe? Whatever the case, these are tasty little buggers. I am trying to control myself and not eat the whole bag. I have to go in for a physical tomorrow morning, so I have to fast after 8pm. Maybe I should see how many I can eat by 8pm.
“Hmmm, Ms. Eggplant, your blood sugar seems abnormally high this morning. Did you remember to fast?”
“Ummmm, yeah, but I sugar-loaded before…oh, never mind.”

Oh, these are delish! We had these last year and I think I’m going to have to go out and get us some more now!

Hmmm. I am thinking of substituting those in one of the peanut butter blossom cookie recipes. Maybe it would work with a different dough then the peanut butter? What do you think? I have not tasted those kisses yet, but you have me intrigued.

i bought a bag of these last night. very nice. also, did you happen to try the pumpkin spice ones? white chocolate center with a pumpkin spice outside. very yummy.
Last year in the baking aisle of Von’s, they carried micro York Peppermint Patties. Truely proportioned and about 25cm wide. I bought them to make candy/cookies with, but couldn’t, just had to eat them one by tiny one.
These would be perfect for a little girl’s tea party.

I thought you might be interested to know how trusted your judgment is (or highly susceptible i am). I picked up a bag of the cocoa kisses this morning at the grocery store. They’ll be coming to work with me since the husband is on a low-carb diet and we’re not supposed to have chocolate in the house. White chocolate and pumpkin spice?!? I’m going to have to find those…
