Happy Black Friday to you all! Now, this is going to be a loaded post, but there’s a payoff for you! The great folks over at
JetPens, my favorite supplier of Japanese office supplies, presented an offer I could not refuse. If I came up with a top 10 office supply gift guide, then JetPens would provide a lucky winner a $10 gift certificate!
So, here’s my quick and dirty gift guide for office supplies. This guide is by no means complete, and you’ll also notice that not everything is from JetPens, since that would be suspicious (though not unreasonable, considering I want everything there). If you just want to figure out how to win the gift certificate, just jump to the end of this post!

MONTHLY PLANNER
I love the small Japanese monthly planners, but the one issue I have with them is the week generally begins with Monday, and my brain gets confused when looking at the calendar. This cute little
Polaroid planner starts the week with Sunday! They have some other cute designs, so check them out!
KEEL’S SIMPLE DIARY
The
Keel’s Simple Diary is pretty darn ingenious. It’s not your run-of-the-mill blank diary; instead, it offers fill-in-the-blank and multiple choice questions. If you know anyone who was obsessed with Mad Libs, this would make an excellent gift choice!
ORIGAMI STICKY NOTES
Do you know anyone who doesn’t use sticky notes? These
Origami Sticky Notes will ensure that those notes don’t just end up in the recycling bin!
KAKUZAI WOOD MEMO BLOCK
I totally want this. Have you ever seen a cooler
memo pad? Well, have you?
KOKUYO SLANTED NOTEBOOK
Ahhh, my people, they are so clever! These
Kokuyo Design Paracuruno Slanted Page Notebooks, which come in fun colors, are designed so they can easily be rolled up and carried around from classroom to classroom or cafe to cafe or, you know, wherever!
UNI-BALL JETSTREAM SPORT BALLPOINT PEN
You’ve heard me go on and on about the
Uni-Ball Jetstream Sport ballpoint pens, and I’m not going to stop. Every time I use one, I just can’t believe my good fortune at my discovery of them. The ink flows so smoothly you won’t want to stop writing. JetPens offers these in many different configurations. I think my favorite tip size is the .7mm, though I do have them in, ahem, every size.
PILOT HI-TEC-C COLETO MULTIPEN
There are a lot of multipens out there now, and there are a lot of gel ink pens. Personally, I prefer the
Hi-Tec-C pens. I love the fine, fine point of these pens, and I find they really fun to write with. I know others love the Pentel Slicci and the Uni-Ball Signo. You can’t really go wrong with any of them!
NOMADIC PENCIL CASE
Well, your gift recipient is going to need something for carrying around all the cool pens, right? JetPens has a great selection of pencil cases, including this
Nomadic Easy Classification Pencil Case. It has compartments galore so you can practically fit an entire office in the case.
SAILOR A.S. FOUNTAIN PEN
Fountain pens make lovely gifts, and these
Sailor A.S. Manhattaner’s NY Artists Guild Fountain Pens are cute to boot. There are several different designs.
YOU TEA SET
And last but not least, no office would be complete without a nice cup for coffee and/or tea. This
Anna Kraitz YOU porcelain cup and saucer holds 13.5 ounces, which is a perfect size.
Okay, so that’s it! And now for the contest to win a $10 gift certificate from
JetPens. All you have to do is leave a comment to this post. If you want, you can share an office supply gift suggestion, but you don’t have to. You just can just comment that you want to win. No pressure, but oh, leave me a real e-mail address so I can reach you if you’re the winner. Contest will close at the end of the day on Friday, December 4, and I’ll randomly select a winner over that weekend! Happy Holidays!
I love pens. Count me in!

That wood block memo pad is cooool.
Also, I share your love for pens, totally.
My current favorite office supply is these little plastic clips that you can hang onto a thumbtack. Perfect for the bulletin board above my desk.

I want the tea cups.
I want the Jetstreams for my Bestie, Jennie.
Oh, I’d love to win! I really love that fountain pen.
You’ve got a good selection there. Only things I would add would be a cute bulletin board and sheet protectors. I use the protectors to store knitting patterns from the Internet and also to hold my carry-around version of a pattern from a book or magazine.
I want to try those pens you keep raving about.
I want some pens! Great guide!
I love that woodgrain note pad. Awesome!
I LOVE office supplies! My favorite part of my last office job was stocking up on supplies, especially pens!
Mmmmm, JetPens!
I lost my beautiful Staedtler multi-function pen that I bought in Tokyo last July. I need a new multi-function pen!
Oh. My. Gosh. The wood block memos and the origami sticky notes are amazing. Perhaps I shall be ordering my OWN stocking stuffers this year!!
I love jetpens so pick me 🙂
I love GoNomadic! And might I say the most tempting item (for me) on the Black Friday list was the Brother label printer from Staples for $40…
i love those planners… but I would prefer them starting on monday!!! could you point to some of these?? thanks!!
Oooh, office supplies… Even when I was little, office supply stores were the best! I’d love to win!
My favorite office supply are post-it notes. I like them all, but my favorites are the brightly colored ones – sometimes simple shapes, and the lined ones are great for files where I take on-going notes. My second favorite are .5 mm gel pens in colors other than black (so I can see my notes!) – Uni-ball are my current favorites!
I want to win!
I would LOVE to win. I adore good pens!
Yes Please.
I love all of it! Do you have any recommendations for those of us who are occasionally required to use pencils? And pencil sharpeners, I hate when you sharpen a pencil with a sharpener that leaves it blunt and off center.
Winning is good. I want to be a winner.
OMG that wood memo block is freakin awesome!
Thanks for the giveaway 🙂 and the tea cups are really cute!
I would love to win the certificate so I can try the uni-ball pens, but I think I will try them no matter what! Great reviews.
That wood sticky note pad is made of win. 😀 The jetstreams pens are as well!

Thanks for the great office supply and gift suggestions! Love them all!
I think I might have to pick up some presents for myself from this list – count me in!
I guess it’s safe to come out of the closet (er file drawer?) as a pen addict.
Love that Simple Diary!
Currently, my favorite pen is the Foray Liquid Medium .7mm I think I got it at Office Depot. School supplies are 1/2 the reason I became a teacher!
I love office supplies & love that you talk about them! Back to school sales are the best (even if it means I have to go back to work! haha)
Thanks for all the pen talk!
I was looking at that simple diary for my baby brother…I’d call it a coincidence, but I’m following the Pen Addict.
Yes, please count me into your gift certificate drawing, that’d be awesome.
I’m suffering from a serious case of office supply envy right about now. : )
That wood notes pad is great!
I love pens, too. And that memo pad is awesome!
Can’t live without great pens! Fountain pens are my choice. I’ve turned my daughter into a pen/office supply lover, too!

OH! That Nomadic pencil case–perfect for knitting tools! I want one so bad.
I gave away the origami sticky notes as a holiday present last year and it was great. They are a lot of fun.
I also like (the look of) the cute staple-free staplers, but I haven’t gotten a chance to try one. They sound like a really useful idea! Delight also has smencils, which would be great for the kid and kid at heart.
Every time I spend far too long in an office supply store I think of you blog!
When I grow up I want to own a office/stationary supply store 🙂
I love pens! Especially really really fine point, like .005…
Ohh I am so in love with everything you posted! I want to win!
Beautiful selection. Office supplies are a guilty pleasure for me.

That faux bois memo pad is fantastic!
Office supplies–there is always something new to find–origami sticky notes are now on MY list!
I love, love, love pens and office supplies! Pick me! Pick me!
This looks to be very bad for my budget! I have loved pens and paper since I was little – what a dangerous site – thank you!
I’ve resisted clicking on any links to JetPens until now… oh noooooo! Too too much temptation.
Hi-Tec-C are my favorite pens but I’ve never tried the Coleto before. Pink is so cute!
I love the madlibs-style diary! I have a sister that is always talking about starting a diary. This could get her started!
I love the little diaries! Mmmmmm orange 8)
I also love the .7 mm Uni-ball Jetstream. After trying many different pens from Japan (mostly through Jetpens), it is still one of my favorites.
Oh my gosh I came online just in time!! *whew* I always miss these contests and things. (^_^) I think a nice writing pen/s and a lovely little notebook makes a nice gift. I love that new notebook feel. aahhhhhh.

Ooh, I love japanese office supplies! My most recent obsession is the patterned tapes at Daiso.
You started my JetPens addiction a while ago and I’m not sure whether to thank or berate you!
I love the refillable highlighters and the Kokuyo NeoCritz Transformer Pencil Case — when you open it and fold down the top it transforms into an open container, a to-go pencil cup. I use it for knitting supplies and it works great.
It’s 10 past 8 pacific time–is it the end of the day yet? Your list was great! Gave me some wonderful ideas for special people on my list (and for me too!!) –Claire
