Not what you’re looking for at all, but in the cookie vein – the Toronto Star newspaper’s website is doing a cookie recipe advent calendar again this year. It’s really neat, each day before Christmas you can open a door on their calendar and get a different recipe. Some of the ones from last year turned out really good so I’m excited for this year’s!

Try these – http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/pistachiosables_92913.shtml – they’re by Delia Smith, who’s something of a British institution. The recipe’s in grams, but you can always find conversions online, if you’d rather the usual cup measures.

I can’t remember, did I send you this recipe already? http://smittenkitchen.com/2006/08/punishment-sandwiches/ It’s a Dorie Greenspan recipe, and she mentions using a food pro to get that sandy texture. I think gran sugar is the way to go too.

Last December, Cooks Illustrated published a delicious recipe for butter Sable cookies – I don’t have it at my fingertips, but if you want it I can e-mail it to you.
