Lucky me

How fancy am I with my brand new Action Hero scarf?

Action Hero Melissa made a bunch of scarves to sell at the holiday craft bazaar at Posie in Portland, and she had a few left over, so we decided to do a swap. Isn’t the scarf incredible? AND, you will notice she also sent along a few little yarn goodies! I’m going to make her some cocktail and dinner napkins in return (I know, doesn’t seem like a fair trade, does it?). I just placed the order for the fabric at Reprodepot Fabric!
Tonight was the book group holiday potluck. I volunteered to make the dessert. Since I just bought a Martha Stewart trifle dish at K-Mart, I decided that I should make … a trifle! I opted for the Autumn Trifle with Roasted Pears and Apples with Pumpkin-Caramel Sauce from epicurious.com. It was yummy, if I do say so myself.

And lastly, maybe all of you know about these lovely retro knitting books, but I did not! Thanks to Cat Manning, who designed the chemo megan shirts, for the heads up! Now I am going to go squeeze in about 30 minutes of knitting before bedtime.

Cool scarf, I love the colours in it. Also, trifel has to be one of my favourite desserts to make and eat. I have a thing about layered food, I love making (and eating) lasagne as well.

Is that ribbing on the sides of the scarf to control curl? How’d she do that?

Wow, those retro knits rock! Sadly it seems a lot of those designs are back in fashion…
Trifle is gorgeous as is the great new scarf. You are indeed a lucky girl.

Great scarf! And thanks for the link — those knitting photos are amazing! How come such effort isn’t put into knitting mags these days? Women in handknits eyeing a man’s sausage. Priceless.

i am completely jealous of the scarf. you two better be careful, i’m going to fly out and visit one of these days.

on the sides of the scarf, i used the double garter stitch selvage, found in vogue knitting. on row 1, slip the first stitch knitwise through the back loop, knit the second stitch, work to the last two stitches, knit two. repeat this row.
