Santa brought a 6 quart Kitchen Aid mixer. It will complement my other Kitchen Aid mixer very well. The colors even match!
And my baking was not a complete disaster. My family is luckily very forgiving. Here’s the Chocolate Roulade I made for Christmas dinner:
The recipe is from the 2003 winter holiday issue of Fine Cooking magazine.
Now I am completely stuffed. It’s no wonder so many people list “LOSE WEIGHT” as a New Year’s resolution! Of course, knitting must burn a few calories …
Hope everyone had a nice day!

Ooo, pretty KitchenAid. What size is your other one? I have a standard-issue white. God, I love that thing. A batch of chocolate chip cookies in about 15 minutes. Ahhh…
I didn’t even know they made 6 quarts! I thought the largest was 5 quarts. Geez – I can’t keep up with anything these days. If anyone needs two kitchen aid it is you.
Can my pink mixer come and play with your yellow one?? Santa’s very kind!
Wow, I was just looking at the mixers on Amazon and I can’t believe all the colors they come in now! Look at these crazy colors for the 5 quart mixer.
Wow! What a huge mixer. What’s the first thing it’s going to make? How about the chocolate bundt cake in the current Cook’s Illustrated? The roulade looks gorgeous and decadent. Just right!
Nifty mixer! I have an antique Sunbeam (circa 1950-something) that just won’t die! Can’t get a new KitchenAid ’til the Sunbeam goes. Geez, they built ’em good back then. Actually, the Sunbeam is fine except I can’t get all the nifty attachments for it (though I’m scouring Ebay for them).
I’m just a touch green at the moment. I wish for one! I think my Mum was looking on ebay, but didn’t find a brushed stainless one, which would be my choice. I’ve threatened to kidnap my Mom’s – she doesn’t cook anyway.
OK, I admit it. I’m a heathen in the kitchen. Using my powers of deduction, I am trying to come up with the answer as to why would one possibly need two mixers. Is it the size thing….you need a huge mixer for some projects and not others?
