portland, here I come

Thanks for all your kind comments regarding the peppermint candy sweater. I decided to be brave and tried it on this morning. I made monkey arms, but other than that, the body seems to fit okay. I am impatient so I ordered a zipper from zipperstop, and it will be delivered to my parents’ address in Portland. I have to mention how much I love zipperstop. They are so helpful there! I asked about getting the zipper shortened then told him I needed a zipper that is 16.25″ long. Long pause. He said, “Can’t you make a 16″ zipper work? It’s only a tooth or two difference.” I could tell he was trying not to laugh. Yeah, this is what happens when I try to be precise and detail oriented!

Anyway, Portland should be fun, even though the reason I am going is to “spend time” with (hello, euphemism for BABYSIT) my father. I am still planning some fun excursions, though. Action Hero Melissa and I might even venture out to Woodland Woolworks! And, I will continue to blog, so there’s just no getting rid of me! Mwahahahaha!

So glad you’ll be in town! Maybe I can meet you while you’re here, if you have time on your hands. And I too love your peppermint sweater, great job.

Thanks for sharing the instructions for the lined bag(s). I have made a couple myself, but not as nicely as yours. I will make my next one as you have and see how well I do.
Also, your peppermint sweater is adorable, and I do hope it fits you perfectly. It really is nice, and I imagine it will look very cute on you.
Have fun in Portland…and make some good memories with your dad!

I’m so jealous. Have a great time in PDX! If you’re near SE Hawthorne, say hi to Imelda’s Shoes for me (I spend a fortune there everytime i go up) and be sure to have a bento next door!

Yeah peppermint sweater wins! Just fold those cuffs back and call it a fashion detail. Non sequiter type question: what was the name of the paint line/shop? Moore? I know…I know…

Zipperstop is awesome…what color did you end up choosing? Somehow I picture you handpainting the individual teeth to match the swirly…oh wait, that’s something probably only I would do….travelling mercies for your trip!

Great sweater, Mariko. I really want a Mariko-model shot once you sew in the zipper.

I do like the sweater very much. And–if you’re ever up MI way, which I realize is unlikely–you should bring your bead box over to my house and play with me! I’ve been futzing around with seed beads for around ten years now, I taught myself all sorts of different stitches to make stuff. Beads are so much fun.

I love that you wanted a 16.25″ zipper. Sounds like something I’d order.(-: Have fun in Portland
