thank goodness my mother is back

Hallelujah, my mother came back today (though one of the first things she said to me when my father was out of earshot was, “I want to go to Japan again”). Here she is unloading all her crap:

She brought me a few goodies, including these knitting books (well, one of them is primarily crochet, but that’s okay):

That one on the right says “Kussy’s Simple Sweaters & Knit Goods.” Who is Kussy? I don’t know.
Word on the street says Megan’s surgery went really well and that she is in good spirits! Thanks for all your well wishes. They mean the world to her.

Love the Japanese knitting and crochet. My mom has a bunch of books, but I can’t make heads or tails of them! If only she had taught me to read Japanese!!

exciting to hear about the surgery! Keep us posted. I bought the suss kit for knitting and was dissapointed. I LOVE THE YARN AND NEEDLES but the packaging made it seem like EVERYTHING you needed was included. But I have a coo project and pattern! http://www.sussknitkits.com

    Yay for Megan!
Great things your mother brought you. Do you plan on knitting (or crocheting) anything from those books?

    Hi Mariko,
I love your japanese knitting magazines, especially the one you posted a few months ago — with the white tank top that had flowers “growing up” starting from the bottom.
I’ve heard of a few translation books that are specifically for translating knitting terms from japanese to english. Have you heard anything about how well these work? I’ll get one just to knit that tank top!

i think Kussy is a new young martha type person; she has a bunch of books out and i think a monthly mag. any manju in the little packages? i found some age-manju, crusted w/ macademia nuts – really yummy!
    yay for megan!

That is a ton of omiyage! Wow.
Show us some of the funny stuff inside those knitting books (is Kussy quoted in English, perhaps?) one of these days!

I have that Kussy magazine!! I love everything in it, especially the blue seed-stitch jacket. (I think — it’s been a while since I looked at it.) But it’s one of the best Japanese knitting mags I’ve found yet, so yippee for your mom!
