This morning I woke up with the punes. My upper stomach was all prickly, and I felt weak and blechy. I’ve been hunched over all day. At least it gave me a good excuse to just loll about on the couch and start reading The Fortress of Solitude by Jonathan Lethem. I need to be better by tomorrow, though, because we are heading up to the Bay Area, and I need to be well and upbeat to see Megan! It’s been two weeks since her mastectomy and DIEP flap procedure, and she is not healing as quickly as she would like. I just can’t imagine going through months of chemo then having to get completely chopped up. She is one of the bravest people I know. Don’t take your health for granted, people (or peeps, if you prefer)!
I’ll leave you with something fun. I recently joined the State Swap, and this was the first package I received. It’s from Carla in Michigan:
There’s a Russian shawl, handknit washcloths, stitch markers, yarn, a bracelet beading kit, and dried blueberries, cherries, and lime curd all from Michigan!

jeeze…hope you feel better in the morning. I’m sending healing thoughts to Megan, too. I feel bad now — before reading this post I sent you this super-perky “HAVE FUN!” email about the sail expo. sigh. There are more important things in this world than sailboats.
Get well soon! I’m sending continued good vibes to Megan…
I hope you feel better and quick. Especially because the yarn store in Alameda that I like so much is having their one year anniversary sale on Saturday…… It’s called Yarn! (yeah, I know) and it’s in the 2300 block of Santa Clara, one block off Park St. You should go! Leave P for his fun at the show and scoot over….
hug megan for all of us, if you feel well enough for hugging…extra prayers go out for all of you…and OH!
Rachael’s YARN store…THAT place will make you feel better!
Feel better soon to both you and Megan! And enjoy the Michigan goodies. It’s hard to beat the dried fruit that comes from the northern part of the state.
oh! you got yours! I’m so jealous!!
i still haven’t gotten mine yet and no word from the girl who has my name. I just posted another message to the group. I hope it didn’t sound too snarky! 😛
Lime curd? What the heck is that?!? I’m from Michigan and I’ve never heard of it. Looks like you got some good stuff in the state swap. I’m jealous, as always.
You’re a good friend to visit with Megan. I’ll keep her in my thoughts & prayers.
Thanks Rachel for the YARN! sale tip. Not like I need more yarn, but you know, it’s not really about need.
Sweetie, I hope you are feeling better by now. Have a great trip!
Oh, I hope you’re doing better soon for your trip up here! Megan is so lucky to have you on her side. Have a great trip and let me know if you have time for coffee or something.
Hope you’re “back up to speed” soon! If I say I’m feeling yucky, my husband asks, “Oh, are you feeling puny?” Must be a variation of punes. Have a great trip 🙂
Checking in to see how you’re doing. I hope you’re feeling better!
Hope you feel better soon. Good thoughts to your friend Megan.
Ohmigod!!! I forgot to tell you that you weren’t supposed to keep the yarn I sent you – it was just packing material!! That nasty pink and purple is some stuff I spun when I first started spinning and I couldn’t bear to throw it away, so I was hoping you’d do it for me. The red stuff is some roving I fell in love with, but hated when I spun it. I’m begging you, get rid of it, please!
