body blockin’

I am about to journey into sleeve hell now that I have completed the front and back of Split Personality. Here she is a’blockin’:

I’m not the most detailed blocker. I just kind of measured, pinned the pieces to a towel, then spritzed them with water. The Cecil yarn is not the best yarn for this particular design, since it is rather heavy and drapey. A stiffer, lighter yarn would probably work better. But, I am not so picky, so it will just be a slouchy sweater. I am going to shorten the sleeves by a good 6 centimeters (do Germans have freakishly long arms or something?). I had to shorten the body quite a bit, too. We’ll see what happens, since I am horrible at sizing.
Hey, the yarn I won on ebay came today! The auction ended on Saturday, so that was super speedy.

I don’t know what I’m going to make yet, maybe a zip cardie, since I have an unnatural and extreme attraction to them?
The mailman also brought me some lovely chocolate from Mindy. Muchas gracias, merci beaucoup, and arigato gozaimasu!

why not add to the zip cardie – don’t you have enough of those already, how about a kicky little vest, or one of those new fangled mini-ponchos?!?

Wow the sweater looks great! I’m going to have to go look online to see a photo of the finished product. I’ve never tried a Rebecca pattern yet, but lately I’ve been seeing many that I would like to try.

Yep, I’m about 2/3 German and judging from the ready-made clothes, I have very long arms. O’course, I’m also 6ft. tall . . Don’t they show the models today with sleeves down almost past the first knuckle of the thumb, though? Looks like built-in fingerless mitts to me.

    Hey,
I just checked out your photo gallery for the 1st time. It’s good to see that Peter’s boat actually goes in the water. Also, you must be loaded: how can you afford to hire the super-model to display your work?

That GGH yarn looks very nice! And boy, you’re really moving along on Split Personality! Looks like it’ll be done before you know it 🙂

  8. Germans have super long arms? I have a lot of German in my bloodline….figures. My arms are freakishly long- my mom is taller than me but I can reach a good 4-5″ more than she- I seriously suspect that that is the reason she likes to take me shopping with her. 🙂
I’ll have to check out some Rebecca patterns!
Your sweater is looking good! So pretty. Chocolate sounds yummy, too!

I don’t know about all Germans, but this madchen has monkey arms.
Split P is grand, it’s not terribly surprising you had to shorten the body a bit, you are not a big girl.
