This might not be very interesting to anyone, but we had a block party today! Three of us coorganized it, and it turned out quite well. I was worried we wouldn’t have enough food, but we had a TON of food, and Peter and I will be eating hot dogs for the rest of our lives. Here’s one glimpse (that’s Peter’s mom with the backpack):
The party was held across the street in a neighbor’s backyard. She has the most shade in the neighborhood, which is important when it’s 100 degrees outside! I think we had about 25 people there.
Hey, thanks for all the nice comments about Grace. I wore it last night, and it was very comfy indeed, and the panel worked well, so I guess it isn’t so terribly dorky. One reason I was hesitant to try Grace at first was because of the mohair yarn called for in the pattern. It didn’t seem like a very practical choice. The Princess yarn, however, worked out great, since it’s acrylic and viscose and much more summery and drapey. And hey, it’s another $10 sweater! Woohoo!

yeah i think the panel worked out perfectly – looks like it was designed to be there!! 🙂 i went to a somewhat bigger block party in chicago on saturday. had a hotdog. and a brat. and a donut. isn’t that everyone’s weight watcher diet.
glad you’re getting over the idea that grace is dorky, i think it looks great!
I like the idea of a block party. The guy across the street always asks us to his barbeque on Halloween. He grills in the dark while everyone hands out candy. It’s a great idea. By the way, everyone looks cool enough. It was probably better in the shade, no?
Oh, how fun! The block parties here tend to be impromptu gatherings with annoying Mexican Top 40 music, smelly meat on the grill, and beer.
Grace looks adorable, and I agree: the panel looks like it’s meant to be there. Congrats on a fantastic finish!
We can now call her Graceful Grace (no peek-a-boobage here)! The block party looks very nice and now you can come up with interesting recipes for hot dogs–google here you come.
