Today is the first day of the California Mid-State Fair, which happens to take place right here (in fact, I think I hear Leann Rimes right now!). On opening day they always have a cattle drive through town, and every year I have the intention of going and watching it (the idea of cows wandering down city streets cracks me up), but I never have. SO, today I set out on foot to go look at the cows (okay, cattle). I allotted a little window of time so I could pop into the bead store, and wouldn’t you know it? I missed the cows. Again.
On the way home I stopped at the cheese shop for some … can you guess? I also bought this:
I then got to talking to the cheese man about chocolate, and he told me he is going to start carrying a bunch of chocolate! Yahoo!
I’m sorry there is no useful information in this post. Well, here is some more useless stuff–Peter went sailing today, and he asked that I post a sailing photo here (and speaking of Peter and ALL YOU FREAKS who claim to be allergic to sour candies and Skittles, I think I should start a support group for all of you! Or maybe a foundation?).
Here’s Peter’s mom, enjoying the wind:

that’s a big boat. can i fit the portland thing and the boat into the same trip?
Hey thanks for the great sailing photos!!No vacation for us this year, so I’ll just look longingly at the photos, sigh!
I’m a recent addition to, what seems to be, a very extensive, loyal readership of super eggplant . I’ve loved all the entries I’ve read so far and am now extremely happy to find out you’re on the central coast! I’m from Morro Bay but have transplanted to Boston in the past few years. It is always exciting to find some link back home and today’s comment about the Mid-State fair brought back jr. high memories for me. Thanks for a great blog and fun pictures! The fair is definately a blast!
Ooh, those boat pictures are just what I needed on this muggy morning–they make me feel refreshed and breezy.
Kim is an awesome person for sending you some Fun Dip.
The blueness in the photos are incredible! Pictures (and beautiful, clear weather) are a main reason why I love being outdoors. Tell Peter we totally appreciate them. And speaking of sour, have you ever tried tamarind candy? You can find them wrapped in yellow cellophane at most Asian groceries. Yummy, but not as fun as that chocolate bar you’re enjoying right now!
Once the cheese man starts carrying chocolate, you won’t have to shop anywhere else! Cheese and chocolate, the two most important food groups.
No! Don’t start a sourpuss support group! If they don’t like sour candy, it means WE get to eat ALL of it! Yay!
Cheese and chocolate? Baby, you need to go to Switzerland. Trust me on this one.
