nobody beats the strizz

Joanna provided a recipe for Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies. Yum.

Of course, because of my early onset dementia (I know I joke about this dementia, but I really AM scared I’m going to get it, and I don’t consider it a laughing matter, so no offense to anyone), I messed up the recipe and accidentally put in twice as much oatmeal as needed. They still turned out okay, though. Oh, I used chocolate chips and Halloween-colored M&Ms. The cookies didn’t taste very pumpkin-y, but Deedle knew the pumpkin was in there. We feed her pumpkin with her meals, and she was going nutso over the cookies. She even tried to jump on the table to snag some!

I know what you mean worrying about the early onset of dementia….Just last week, I had some money for my daughter that I wanted to keep separate, so I put it in an envelope and put her name on it. I knew just where to find the envelope when I needed to, but when I looked at the “name” on the envelope…..I had written the word “restart” instead!!! I was speechless!! We had a good laugh about it, but still………

This has nothing to do with your post, but I just saw these doughnut dolls on Cut + Paste and thought of you.

you both are making me drool; I MISS oatmeal rasin cookies sooo much that I finally broke down and went to the Ben and Jerrys to get the Oatmeal Cookie Dough icecream (divine!!) I count the day until I have a stove again…

I don’t think you need to worry – you’re active physically & mentally: you use it, so you won’t loose it. Don’t worry! It’s a big waste of emotional & mental energy (says one big worry-wart).

I just made these cookies this past weekend. This has been a favorit cookie of my family for years, it’s half the reason my husband married me. Enjoy!

I think when the family history shows some dementia it is scary. You are very active and that will really help. “Don’t worry, be happy”

  7. Ha! You think YOU’RE bad!
I thought up a ‘brilliant’ idea a few weeks ago and decided to listen to my favorite funny book, “The Pickwick Papers,” whilst making gingerbread.
After mixing the sugar into the batter (while laughing hysterically over ‘The History of Bath’ in P.P.) I realized with a shock that the recipe called for 1/4 cup of sugar, NOT 1 1/4 cups!!!!!!!
That was some powerful gingerbread, let me tell you!

    Mmmmm…pumpkin.
Love the tray the cookies are on, too.
I rolled my eyes at the yuppies; laughing out loud for no apparent reason on the A train can get you into some serious trouble. Trust me on this one.

OMG! I’ll eat just about anything pumpkin flavored… but chocolate chip pumpkin oatmeal cookies?!?!? Seems like heaven. I’ll have to hit the grocery store soon!

My problem is that I can’t see so I’m always messing up measurements. By the way, Cooks should start paying you. I decided to get a subscription to their magazine because of you.

I hope you don’t worry too much…I like to remember that I may get hit by a bus or some such so it really wouldn’t matter. I used to have a nightmare about someone on MUNI cutting my hair off (it used to be quite loooonnngg). We all worry. Now about those cookies, should I make them tomorrow and bring them to Rhinebeck?
