My mother came home from Japan a couple of days ago, and she brought me some good stuff (and though my wacko brother likes to complain that I get all the good stuff, and he just gets underwear, I must point out that I am very specific in my requests, while he is not. Besides, he is very picky. Did you see the fabulous reflective sash my mother brought him, though?):
Some great fabric to add to my stash! Hillary found a Japanese web site that only sold fabric in Japan, so we conspired and figured out a way to GET SOME (make my mother bring some back). Hillary should get her fabric early next week, so keep your eyes peeled for the goodies she ordered. I love the fabric! You’ll also notice a couple of knitting magazines. There are some really weird things in the top one, but there is a crocheted flower tutorial in there, so maybe I will finally be able to figure out how to do that successfully.
Here’s some tawashi yarn:
I swear Japanese acrylic is softer and nicer than the American stuff.
And this is not from Japan, but I wanted to share. Check out the yummy chocolates my brother got for me at Moonstruck Chocolates, a local chocolatier:
He was offended because I didn’t immediately rip open the box to admire the truffles. He said he put a lot of effort into picking out the prettiest ones. I guess he ain’t all bad all the time.
Great fabric–can’t wait to see Hillary’s. I’m sure it’s cute.
I love Moonstruck chocolates. My favorite are the cream cones.
wow, awesome stash! love that fabric!
Checked out wacko brother’s blog. It’s um…rather interesting hearing his version of current events. He still gets underwear as a gift? Though good save with the chocolates (he’s trying!). Well…got to go!
you have much more restraint that i do. i would have devoured the dog(?) with the collar. looks delish!
Little snowmen chocolates! So cute!
ooo I can’t wait t osee what you make with that aadorable fabric Mariko!!! And thos chocolates are darling. insane brother is a little softie underneath it all, isn’t he! Ha!
I adore the French Chair fabric especially.
Je vous laisse vous placer.
Thanks for sharing the eye candy and the real candy. xoxo Kay
I bought some acrylic in Mexico which is incredibly soft and only 30 pesos (roughly $2.75)for 700 yards–I guess Merkins have no acrylic pride?
I love the Japanese sense of kitsch. J-List has a lot of fun stuff, but it seems like you have your own pipeline. 😉
Well that fabric is wonderful! Is that little redheaded girls all over the stuff? Almost cuter than the chocolates.
RIP OPEN THE BOX?
It was held closed by that FLIMSY GOLD RUBBERY THING.
Yeesh. Big drama queen.
I am unhealthily obsessed (redundant, I know) with those truffles. Your insane brother can send them to me anytime and I will aggressively rip the cover off the box!
Yum!! Those chocolates look divine!
Those are actually the prettiest truffles I’ve seen. And I love Japanese seersucker, which it looks like that fabric is.
hi there! your friend cat manning referred me to your site. great stuff! how’s the crochet flower coming along?
