Peter did some more sewing today. He completed two large bags for storing our sleeping bags:

He says he is ready to take on new projects now!
In other sewing, does anyone have a recommendation for a place to order custom woven labels, i.e., labels that would be sewn onto the exterior of items? I know about NW Tag & Label, but I would like to know if there are other options out there.

Label companies that send out samples are Able Labels of Sarasota http://www.ablelabels.com and NameMaker http://www.namemaker.com.

Hi, I love your blog. I knit, but you have inspired me to try sewing! Here is a label site for you. http://www.namemaker.com/superiorlabels.asp

A long time ago I bookmarked this link for Heirloom Woven Labels http://heirloomlabels.com/. I think it was Becky who mentioned it originally.

i ordered some labels for knitting through namemaker.com, they were pretty quick (quicker than they quoted, even at the holidays). i am very happy with them!

How many do you need? Do you need them customized? If you just need a few check and you just want your name or a few words, check out craft magazines and there will be ads in the back.
If you want 1000 or more then you may want to check out bloomers4u.com. I’m ordering my first professional woven labels from them and as long as their quality is good, I’d recommend. I’ll be posting a photo and stuff on my site as soon as I get them.

Looks like the company I was going to mention has already been mentioned several times! 🙂 I was going to suggest Namemaker, as well. I placed an order a few weeks ago. They are currently closed for the holidays (until Jan. 3), though.

Hi — I used Heirloom Woven Labels (already mentioned in your comments) and they were great. The price was reasonable and the service was fast.

Hey Mariko, I used http://www.namemaker.com and was satisfied, even though it took awhile.

Mariko, this is just a thank you for all your tutorials. I’m a new sewer, but was able to make a bunch of folks cozy & gorgeous flannel pillowcases at Christmas. Then when a conversation turned to “stuff that gets lost in the bottom of one’s purse,” I was able to zip upstairs (my sewing machine currently lives at my mom’s house) and turn out cute little drawstring pouches for my mom and sister, custom-sized and perfect for their needs. Quite fun 🙂 So, thanks, again, for sharing your expertise!
