The poor dishwashing liquid bottle. It has to sit around the kitchen day and night, occasionally getting groped by wet or soiled hands. Such a sad existence. But wait! It doesn’t have to be like this! The soap can have some sass!
I confess that this is not an original idea. I bought the first little apron at the farmer’s market. It started getting kind of grungy, so I decided to give the bottle a change of wardrobe. Now I am a little obsessed with making a whole closetful of flirty little aprons for the dish soap. If I have your address, don’t be surprised if one of these shows up in your mailbox one day.
Your dishsoap bottle is the cutest in all the land!
Mariko, you’re my hero! Such randomly cute and ingenious stuff, haha. And are those the crocheted scrubbies from the Japanese patterns next to the well-dressed dishsoap bottle?
I love it!!! Is this a pattern you can share?
oh i love it! would you share the pattern or any tips? i have always had major issues with my bottle being on the counter but every time i try to keep it under the counter it’s so inconvenient that the bottle wins and ends up on top again. such a cute and useful idea!
That’s so cute, Mariko. That would make such a cute (cheap) housewarming present. Add some little scrubbies and some yummy soap… Excellent!
You crack me up.
Can I give you my address? I love it!
This is kind of funny, the first read through, I saw “soap can ass!” That got my attention, but the little apron kept it : )
Wow, your dishsoap is showing some serious Aunt-Jemima-like sass in that apron, especially with the risqu
Hi there, been following your blog. That’s a really cute dressy dish soap there. Very cheery! 🙂
That is such a cute idea! I am so going to make one for my poor naked dishsoap! 🙂
Oh, I love it… about 30 years ago, the church I attended would make these, every year!, for the bazaar… and always they sold-out ..f..a..s..t, and then they’d take special-orders…
too cute. i’d be enthusuastic about cleaning with all that cuteness in my kitchen
I thought I’d seen everything, but that’s a new one…very cute!
That is so cute! It reminds me of something I made ages ago (but not my original idea, it was from a pattern) — little tuxedo aprons for wine bottles. Everyone got a bottle of wine in formal attire for Christmas that year!
But it never occured to me to dress up my dish soap. But why the heck shouldn’t I?
That is ridiculously cute! I’m a bit apron obsessed so I love it.
that is great! I love it 🙂
wow! dish soap really wears that apron well….like a mini-dress form….hmm……..
my roommate and i have settled on the ‘bachelor buddy’ the scrubby on a hollow handle you fill with dish soap so you don’t need the bottle at all…but now….i’m thinking the bachelor buddy may have some competition!
That is beyond adorable. I’ll have to limit my dishsoap’s internet access for the next few weeks so it doesn’t get jealous! 😉
You, my dear, are a nut.
😉
totally cute. don’t you think aunt jemima needs one too
That is too cute!!
Girl after my own heart–and don’t think I didn’t notice the Handknit Scrungie, either. You are living the Compleat Country-Cutesy Kitchen lifestyle!
So much better than Martha’s clunky and dangerous glass-bottle solution to the Problem of Unsightly Plastic Dish Soap Bottles on the Counter Where People Will SEE Them.
xoxo Kay
That is one of the cutest things I have ever seen! It is charming.
The apron makes the dishwashing liquid bottle look disturbingly human. You’re freaking me out.
I never realized how human-shaped the dish soap bottle is. I’ve never really cared about my soap bottle sitting out there naked or whether people might see it (what do they expect I wash my dishes with?), but the apron is perfect.
Awwww.
Sooo cute! And hilarious, too. Very very Super Eggplant.
Well, that is one fashionable dish soap dispenser! 😉
Yay! I bought one of those about 15 years ago, in the Carolinas. I forgot all about it. Wonder what happened to it?
P.S. if you decide to sell those, I would love to buy one! :))
Oh, what could possibly be next? Mariko, are you turning into Martha? Never mind, I’m just jealous! I even have the same fabric!!! And I love my little Dawn dishsoap bottle, it SO needs one of these. 🙂 How about a sexy french maid type?
Am I the only one who thinks I”d do more dishes if the dishsoap was man-shaped instead of woman shaped? just curious 😉
Too cute! You should definitely start selling those!
Hee hee hee! VERY cute! She looks like she’s about to give some dishes a stern talking to! Heee!
gaile is so wrong. that would cause me to never do dishes. ISN’T THIS A FAMILY BLOG.
i can’t believe you got 3435 comments on a dishwash soap apron. you’re truly an american icon, Supereggplant. The Girlreaction, she say, you go you super egg.
You’re one crazy gal!
hee so cute!
One word: adorable! I love it!
I so want one. I want one!
I hope you have my address!! 😉
*crosses fingers* !!!!
i need this very useful and important item. i NEED it. damn it! why don’t i sew!
I was inspired by your dish detergent out fit and made a sexy knit outfit for mine! I’ve got a picture at my blog.
Mariko ~ The flirty little apron for the dish soap is too cute :o) It looks like the one my little grandmother made for herself to wear around the house to clean…She must have had one for each day of the week ;o) I would love to buy the pattern from you! Did you hear about Martha Stewart’s new show when she gets out of Camp Cupcake, The Apprentice? I think she will be looking for someone like her to be her apprentice. Cooking, crafts, gardens ~ Sounds FUN!! I nominate you :o)

OMG! It came out so adorable! I made these same things, but mine came out absolutely horrific – although I did mail one to both my sisters (less that enthusiastic to get the shabby things) and my mother. They thought I was nuts (well, mine were terrible ugly, but yours look like they just fell off of Doris Day!)Precious!
oh my god! i want one!
