green tea delight

Yesterday I got a phone call from the post office. They said they had an express package for me, and I could either pick it up or just wait to have it delivered on Monday. Hmm, express package? I figured it was probably work-related or just some marketing scam. I asked who it was from, and when they told me, I ran out the door and jumped in the car. Look what it was!

Gobs of matcha goodies, courtesy of Molly in Japan. So far I’ve tried the chewy milky candies coated with matcha powder (super yum!) and the matcha Pocky. Now you knitters out there probably spotted that little non-candy-related item. It’s a mini pompom maker!

It only took me a couple of minutes to whip up those little pompoms! These pompom makers are the coolest little gizmos! Much easier than winding around and around a plastic donut (Susan Bates pompom maker! Grrrrr). Now I’m afraid I have to list pompoms on my current list of fixations (along with zippers and webbing).

Take a look at this link – I guess Susan Bates got your vibes and made something like the Clover pom pom maker that comes in a box. Saw it at Beverly Fabrics the other day.
Wow! what a wonderful present – so springy and green!
I enjoy your blog so much – sewing and knitting!

Cool. Now I know what to get my nephews/friends when I go back to America at the end of this month. I’ve been trying to decide (chopsticks? no.) I’ve been in Japan for a year and a half and I don’t really notice green tea/cheesecake kitkats anymore. But the lively responses here tell me I shouldn’t overlook the small (green) things!!
    Thanks for the inspiration, everybody.
