I scored a great Steelcase metal desk and an accompanying table at a rummage sale.
The thing is in good shape. It is super heavy, and I am kind of a wimp, so I had to go next door and ask the neighbor kid to help us heft it into the house. It was more of an ordeal than we (and especially he) had anticipated (we have very narrow doors). I gave him four cans of pop for his trouble. Anyway, now I have two huge desks in my teeny little office. Right now there’s stuff spread all over the place. I think that rather than dealing with it, though, I’m going to go eat some more pistachio cake and get ready for Desperate Housewives.

Lucky girl! Once you work out a setup, I’m sure you’ll appreciate that desktop. (And table, too??!!)
Avoidance is the best answer.
Will you leave it as is? I’ve got a clipping of a metal filing cabinet that was painted bright pink. (Auto paint, maybe?) It was nifty.
That’s a great find! That desk is so cool. I have a grey-green one & I LOVE it! 🙂
wow how did you find that rummage sale? the desk looks like it’s in really good condition too.
I have the exact same desk. It looks like you might be missing the middle drawer, but if not, you can get keys for the desk which locks all the drawers at once. A pair costs ~$15.

Oh, those desks are the best. Did you see the MS Living issue a couple years back where she featured metal furniture and she had some items painted at an auto body shop in cool colors?
4 lousy cans of pop?
Score on the desk!! I still need to take some pics of my new craft room setup…in the midst of everything else. 😉 Will an L shape work in your space?? I find that creates the most usable space for me. good luck, I’m sure you’ll make it look fabulous!
Wow, Eggplant. You are so generous giving the poor neighbor kid four piddly cans of pop to help you move your big, heavy desk. I hope they weren
I am envious. What a score! Those desks are great and usually really expensive. I want a pink one.
Love steelcase desks, got one myself, though I paid a fortune for one with a cool, artsy grind. I’m with Amy–electrostatic paint that sucker pink–or aubergine!
