So much to knit, and so little time! I just started on the Nothin’ but a T-shirt pattern from Magknits. I have two more things on my plate after this:
-The Special Kay striped sweater from Sarah Dallas’s Vintage Knits book. Here’s what the cover of the book looks like:
I am going to call it the Special Kay sweater, because Kay gifted me the yarn! Maybe I should call it the Super Special Kay? Hmmmm.
– The bolero thingy from the summer 2005 Vogue Knitting. Here’s what it looks like:
Is that a cheese pizza on her lap? Anyway, I think it will be a perfect little summer wrap when the air conditioning gets a bit much. I plan to use Shine in cherry from KnitPicks. Machine washable and dryable? I’m there!
I’m sure I can find more, but these are the definite next two projects! Really! So what are you all planning to knit this spring/summer?

I was just looking at that bolero last night! I’m thinking about that, and am planning on making the Rowan Butterfly tank and a shrug of some sort. The Scarlett Tank from Rebecca…oh and the Acorn Tank from Interweave’s Summer issue. There are so many beautiful patterns right now, it’s hard to decide!
Ohh, I want to knit the 3 items you have listed and the Criss-Cross from the same issue of VK as the bolero. I have looked at the photo of that bolero so many times but never noticed the thing on her lap till you mentioned it – it’s a raspberry tart. I also want to knit about another half a dozen patterns from the spring summer Japanese magazines – do I have enough time? Where I live, it’s summer all the time!Actually, my current want-to-knit list is up to some ridiculous number like 53.
I, too, have the bolero/shrug thing on my list. I can’t decide what yarn to use, though. I plan on making this to go with my sleeveless New Year’s Eve dress. Other summer projects – socks, as always, and Pacific Grove pullover from Just One More Row. Um, I’m sure I have others bouncing around in my brain, but that’s it for now. 🙂
Ooh….I love those projects. I was thinking about making the Debbie Bliss fiery bolero from Interweave Knits Summer issue. It’s almost identical to the one you found in vogue!
What do I NOT want to make? That bolero looks perfect. I have a pattern for one with long sleeves that I was recently considering, but that looks much more usable in the summertime.
We need more time! Maybe I will bring some knitting to work next week during midterms, at least for lunchtime. Hmm, do I have the nerve?
Aw! I’m honored but what about the lime-green jacket from the Vintage Knits book? I’d hate to think I knocked that one off your list, but then again the stripey bright top will be a great addition to the Eggplant wardrobe. It’s so you. The bolero will take you all of a weekend! xoxo Kay
I’m 3/4 done with the back of Nothin’ but a T too. I haven’t decided what to put on the front of it yet, but I’m making it in green with navy as the accent color. What are you putting on yours?
I have a Chicknits Scoop du Jour on the needles, a plan for a cotton lace shawl, and some little odds and ends (mostly baby stuff) going on too.
oh i love those bolderos…so cute!
I’m working on the bolero right now in Knitpicks Shine Orchid. Just finished up the back last night in fact. I love it and I’m sure you will too – shine is a great sub for the expensive La Luz.
I just realized last night that I have no idea what I’m going to knit next. I have a couple of things to fix/finish, but they’re heavy and wintery. I don’t even HAVE any spring/summer yarn, jsut lots of alpaca and mohair and merino.
Time to shop, I guess.
The wrap top, VK Sp/Su 05 (the one right after the big blue net of GGH Safari.
Nothing but a T-shirt.
Firey Bolero, IK Su 05.
Cabled Bolero, IK Su 05/Staff Knits
Baby Kimono, IK Su 05.
Ubernatural, MagKnits Chilly 04.
Bad Penny, Knitty.
Orangina, Glampyre Knits.
The list goes on…
I have to finish the Ribbon Xback from Knitty before I will allow myself to begin anything else. (I’ve frogged twice already. Arrgh!) I love that bolero, but Orangina from glampyre is calling my name too ….
How funny, I’m also doing an IK pattern (A Good Bias) in Knitpicks Shine Cherry! So far it knits fine for a cotton yarn, but the red isn’t so brilliant (it probably should be called Strawberry instead). BTW, have you tried the new Cinnabon microwave popcorn? It is weird but in a good way.
What not to make? There are so many beautiful things out there tempting me! That bolero, for one. And the stripey tee from VK (longterm). Kiri. And Liberty, from RYC Cashsoft and Cashcotton. Have you seen Liberty? I think that’s my must-knit this year.
Great sewing projects, Mariko. How do you find the time?
