what once was old is new again

Last year I made a skirt out of some circus fabric (I’d load the photo, but for some reason I am unable to do so). I loved the fabric, but the skirt was kind of frumpy and plain. So, last night I added a flounce!

I must say I was unsure about the ruffle after I added it. I decided that I would put on the skirt, and if Peter laughed uncontrollably, then I would need to rethink the whole flounce situation. Well, he didn’t laugh, and I decided to wear it today. It is rather flirty and fun to wear. Making this modification was really easy, so if you have some garments in your closet that could use a little spicing up, go for it!

Here’s a random question. When I was a runner, my Saturday or Sunday run was usually a club race (I was never racing, mind you, just plodding and collecting free gatorade along the way). Over the years I collected massive piles of colorful race t-shirts.
What, o Eggplant, do you do with yours?
Still lovin’ the green shoes. They look so swell with a flouncy skirt.

Answering Kay’s question–can you sew flounces with the race t-shirts?

The skirt looks nice, and I cannot help noticing the shoes as well (or should I say “either”?! – I’m confused..). I subscribe to the question: what kind of shoes are they?
PS Mariko, thanks a lot for the mail, might “see” you on Skype!

We don’t have any good fabric stores here and I was hoping to find some asian prints: sushi or lanterns or something cute. Any online suggestions? You are the expert!
Love the skirt. It goes well with your cute shoes! 🙂

I love the flounce! It’s not as brash and bold as a ruffle.

Cute skirt! And I like the shoes even better! (Man, what a total me-too comment, huh..)

ok, isn’t a flounce less gathered and maybe even cut on the bias? I’m still trying to figure this out. I’d say ruffle, but “flounce” definitely sounds more adult.
