As a kid, I don’t recall Mother’s Day or Father’s Day being such huge commercial holidays, but what can you do? Usually I just send my father a card, but this year I decided I’d order him a couple little goodies. To call my father a packrat would be a gross understatement, so buying him additional novelty products is sort of like giving candy to a diabetic, but hey, he’s 89, so who cares! Throw caution to the wind!
Yup, wind-up ramen and rice bowls from Spiral and Circle! I didn’t get him the whole set, mind you. I just got him the tempura soba and the unagi donburi. They are small, so it shouldn’t add to the clutter too much …

those are so cool. and that link….is dangerous, lol. free shipping too, wow.
Yeah, I thought the $5 greeting card racket was bad enough, now the radio is telling me that if I really loved my dad, I’d buy him a new La-z-boy. Sheesh.
(Rant aside, those are cool gifties :))
Damn skippy he’ll love those knicknacks! I’m sure he’s still got all those cards from over the years too.
Those are adorable – a wonderful addition to his collection. I’m sure he’ll love them.
Must. Resist. Wind-up. Ramen. Must. Not. Fall. Prey. To. Insane. Cuteness… Ahhh…I feel my resolve weakening… Damn you, Mariko and your evil influence… *shakes fist and heads toward that link*
Mariko. Sweetie. What kind of mind thinks things like this up????
😉
so you wind them up and then they…what? shimmy your soup? won’t that make it spill out? i’m a little scared of them!
Those wind up ramens are SO CUTE! MUST. HAVE. WINDUP RAMENS. You are definitely an evil temptress. Especially to us trinket/candy-ophiles!
My mouth is watering at the thought of unagi donburi.
Oh, those are so good. I vaguely remember a photo of your dad surrounded by some of his clutter — yep, wind-up soba is exactly what the man needs!
Oh I love it! Especially the tempura one.
You have outdone yourself this time. 😉
oh those are so AWESOME!!! i must have the whole set… definitely a step up from the collection of “pooping” keychains that may or may not be on my desk right now… i wont admit anything!
what happens when they wind up? do they make slurping sounds?
What does a wind-up bowl do? Drain the soup? Slurp? Hysterical, and definitely for the guy who has everything & needs more of it!
Those are great! Thanks for the link. I hope your father likes them!
I looked at this post yesterday, and I thought those little ramen/rice bowls were so cute. I had a dream last night that I received them as a gift, but they were remote controlled. How cool would that be? Racing Ramen. Hee hee hee.
I love it – the perfect gift for a dad. They seem to get harder and harder to shop for every year. This is the kind of present that is just right!
