During the spring, I met two Japanese high school exchange students on a weekly basis so I could practice my conversational Japanese. They are great girls and were really helpful (though I can’t say my skills have improved much). One of them went back to Japan last week, and the other one, Kanako, is going home this weekend. I thought we should have a last hurrah, so I took Kanako to Target today (her request). We were there so long I am surprised the sun was still out when we exited (good thing today is summer solstice). I did get some more Twizzlers Twerpz and and a bag of M&Ms of a mixed variety! It has plain, peanut, and crispy ALL MIXED TOGETHER. I have mixed (no pun intended) feelings about this.
Anyway, blah blah. Here is a photo of some mastodon plushes that Kanako gave me! She said I am the only person she knows in this country who would be able to fully appreciate them. I am flattered. I believe they are from the Nagoya World’s Fair.
AND, please note the button in the upper right-hand corner that will lead you painlessly and seamlessly to my ebay auctions!
You started the bidding at a dollar? Silly woman. You’re worth way more than that.
The famous mammoth! Count your blessings, those are HOT!
You’re going to make a small fortune by the time those auctions end in 6 days! I love all of the stuff you make.
You have lots of bids! Now sit back and watch them turn into yarn money as the week progresses. That’s why it’s fun to start them at a dollar: you know they will sell, it’s just a matter of how much you’ll get.
Have you started scouting ebay for ways to spend your profits yet?
wow, look at those bids go. awesome.
only day 6 of 7…just you wait. the real activity happens in the last 24 hours. lots of watchers out there i bet.
OMG, Japanese exchange students LOOOOVE Target! I had an exchange student back when I was taking Japanese in high school….. and she bought SO much stuff there…. my mother was quite shocked! :o)
Was thinking of you last night when I thought about taking my two furry friends out for a walk in the rain (NOT). Would love to bid on some of your doggy raincoats! (got outbid on the bag, sniff!)
Those mastodons have a kinda snufflupagus vibe to them. They are so so so adorable.
Careful, or you’re going to have to make bags full time to keep up with the demand!
Heehee! You’re the only one in this country who would appreciate mastodons!
I think you’ve found your new calling/business! Go ebay! -t
oh my god those mastadons are so cute! i love the sleepy eyes.
The mastodons do seem like quite the honor. I’ve got to find some of those mixed m&ms!
And you were afraid you’d make only $1.40 on your wares!
did you know about this place for crafters — alternative to ebay:
I knew those would go for good amounts. They are all jumping up there fast! I hope to win the ladies zipper pouch:)
That mammoth is so great! I’m on the look out for a Japanese conversation partner. I had one years ago and it was really helpful. Of course, I’ve now forgotten nearly everything I learned.
From the look of your auction, you’re going to do quite well!
