Chocoholism

In honor of any visitors from Bonne Marie’s site, I’ll pretend I’m a good knitting blogger (and not the unfocused, random thoughts blogger that I truly am) and begin with a wee knitting update. I finished the stripe in the Becky Wannabe sweater and just have to continue with the pink to finish the back:

Those of you familiar with the sweater will notice that I have a BLUE stripe where the white stripe should be. Why? Do I have a thing for pink, orange, and blue combos? In truth, the Canadian store from which I ordered my yarn did not have white, so they suggested blue. I rather like it, so I’m not complaining.
Now, on to chocolate. Some friends went to San Francisco last week and very thoughtfully and generously brought back some Recchiuti Chocolates, which I have been dying to try for some time now. The box was a sampler of a few dark chocolate varietals, and there were INSTRUCTIONS for tasting! We were to go in order from mildest to strongest, so Peter and I sat down and had our chocolate tasting. It was very fun and delicious:

By the way, I am working on a gallery of completed projects, but since I am trying to code the whole thing in html (I took an online class on beginning web design at the beginning of the summer. I know, completely dorky), it will most likely take me, ohhh, a million years! If anyone has any simpler and more efficient suggestions, please let me know.

  1. If you just want to post a bunch of pictures, there are a lot of Web sites that let you do that. Some are free, some are not. Basically, all you have to do is to upload your pictures to it. That’s it. You don’t have to know html at all. Then just point to it from your Web page. That’s what I do with my Web site. I have so many pictures it became almost impossible to post them manually. I use my .mac account. It’s too bad you don’t have a Mac. 🙁

HTML -it’s not dorky! it is worth it to learn HTML so you can troubleshoot if ever necessary. It’s not as hard as it seems, just redundant. Once you figure out how you want it to look, just copy the format for each page or section.

Oh, but you are such a lovable dork! I think a course in html and beginning web design is a wonderful idea! May I join you? Your dark chocolate gift is KILLIN’ me. When my Peter wants to make me really happy, he orders dark chocolate wafers (tinged with ginger — yum!) from London. Very pricey but nirvana in a box! Last time they arrived in little pieces so I could eat more at one sitting and not feel guilty. Wait! My eye just wandered to your sidebar to read “Hebrew National hot dogs.” Oh yeah, baby, the ONLY kind of dog worth eatin’. 😉

I just checked out your chocolate link. Wow! Tarragon grapefruit? Ginger heart? Star anise and pink peppercorn? Lavender vanilla? This is definitely going on the list for Santa to check twice. Did you get to L.A. Burdick’s Chocolatier in Harvard Square? Their hot chocolate is a must-have in the winter. Sooooo thick and rich. Mmmmm mmmmmm good. 🙂

If you have a decent webhost, you can install and run a photo package like Gallery. Here’s a link:

This kind of thing is mostly good for situations where you have lots of photos that only need small captions. If you’re like me, and prefer a high tell-to-show ratio, it’ll be less useful.
