back from sf

Well, I made it back from San Francisco, but I’m sorry to say I took pathetically few photos! I had a great time, though, and got to see lots of people. Unfortunately, those people did not include Rachael or Becca, though I did see Rachael’s flaming hair and had the opportunity to yell at her as I ran by. Yes, so running. The race was fine and relatively fun, if you consider running all squished with 15,000 people when it’s still dark out fun!
What were some other highlights? Well, take a look:

That’s the coffee crunch cake from Yasukochi’s Sweet Stop Bakery in Japantown. We stumbled upon the bakery when we went in search of bentos. It was delicious!
And my first ever mani-pedi was delightful. Megan and I went to Lavande Nail Spa. I was pretty surprised by how busy the place was. I had no idea that nail stuff was so popular. I guess I need to get out more often. Here are my toes:

I also got to meet up with Mrs. H and her gang. Here’s the gang minus Mrs. H, who wandered off to take a photo of a tall Russian ship:

That’s Megan on the left! There is a rather famous person in this photo, but in order to protect her stellar reputation, I don’t think I should identify her (I don’t think her listeners know how silly she can be).
What else? Oh, I discovered a whole new world of Japanese books at Kinokuniya, but I will wait until tomorrow to share those. I will leave you with my big splurge, courtesy of Artfibers:

OMG! Is that the new pattern software?!?! If so how much did you have to pay (if you don’t mind me asking)? I want to get it so bad but I don’t want to make a special trip up to SF if it’s too expensive.

I was just in SF, and also found Kinokuniya – significantly enhanced my Japanese craft book stash there… and Artfibers, yippee!
I love that city. Love your toes, too!

wow! you got the pattern software? we were just talking about that the other day.. i think it’s an amazing idea.

  8. Silvia says:

Super toes! Mani/pedi is such a fab treat and in SF soooooo cheap. Suburban mani/pedi is tons more expensive…sigh.
Knitscape software! I’m so jealous! Can I tell you how much I loved knitting up the pattern I got from Artfibers, no fudging the gauge and eyeballing the fit…It was perfect right away, as written. Great little investment.

I’m now expecting some kick-ass designing ’round these parts. You know. Super-Eggplant-y things.

  10. Jane says:

I’m so curious about who the famous person might be. A local radio personality? (Whom I wouldn’t know, since I am in NM.)

Her listeners do know she’s a serious journalist, but there is a photo on the internet of her recording with her head under a blanket! 🙂
