bundles of bao

This is for Silvia:

It’s all the frozen bao my mother brought over! They have char siu (Chinese barbecue pork) inside, and they are so yummy. I tried to find out the manufacturer, but all my mother could remember was that it said “No MSG” on the box.
In other news, I made a couple of holiday mini totes over the weekend, and I’m thinking about offering them up for sale here. I want to make a couple more before I unveil them, but hey, time is running out, and I don’t seem to get much sewing done during the week, so maybe I will just have two. We’ll see.
I am also thinking that next year, if I am still blogging and if there is any interest, it might be fun to have an online holiday craft bazaar? Before we moved to Portland, we lived where there weren’t many cool handmade crafts. Yes, there were holiday bazaars, but the offerings generally made me want to weep, and not from joy! So what do you think? Feedback appreciated.

I took part in a craft fair just this weekend. The other participants had a whole lot of CRAP. Higher standards are necessary!

oooh! an online craft bazaar sounds great! looking forward to hearing more news. and the chinese bao looks yummy…in hawaii it’s called ‘manapua’ and there’s a baked manapua too. also assorted fillings, like chop suey, barbeque chicken, curry and i think a pizza one too…but my favorite is the char siu manapua.

An online craft bazaar sounds like a great idea. I’d be interested in participating, with enough notice. (Should I consider this the notice?)
*If you’re still blogging*…please, no more of that.

An online holiday bazaar sounds like a great idea! There are so may online crafters making cool things, but it’s hard to find them sometimes. Do it!

Yeah, what is this ‘IF’ I’m still blogging stuff?

You temptress! I actually took a detour in SF the other day to get bao on Clement St. I ate TWO in the car! One of my friends “thought” she saw some frozen ones in the grocery store…we shall see.
Are you having blog burnout? Maybe you could start/join one of those group blogs…start a hip PDX crafty blog. That’d take the blog fodder pressure right off.

    p.s I hope you don’t mind/think it’s a little strange, I added a link to you on my blog.

Three cheers for the online craft bazaar! I’m definitely interested.
Here in Colorado I’ve seen frozen bao (with the barbecue pork) in the grocery store…pretty sure it was the Safeway Select store brand. It was okay but nothing like what a friend made for me once–homemade was far tastier!

  20. Yes, that sounds wonderful! I would love a holiday bazaar. And I’ve been known to take a long lunch break and drive to Oakland Chinatown for mid-day dim sum… always have to have a few of those buns, always. With the honey on top. Mmmm!
