Mrs. H started the annual tradition of a gingerbread house-making party long ago. As we kids moved away, I think the parties were put on hiatus. I always loved the tradition and planned to start it myself but never succeeded. Well, all the “kids” were in town, so Mrs. H hosted a gingerbread house-making party! The main difference was that the house builders were mostly kids of the “kids.”
Here’s Mrs. H’s granddaughter methodically decorating her house:
My gal Lillie brought reception sticks and other goodies for her house:
And here’s Lillie’s completed house:
That is too cool! I haven’t ever made a gingerbread house… Can I come next year? 🙂
Lillie’s t-shirt cracks me up. Yay Mrs. H!xox Kay
I thought that once my kids graduated high school, that they would no longer be interested in making gingerbread houses. Foolish me! They insisted that we continue the tradition, and now they even bring over girlfriends/boyfriends to participate! But, we do cheat and use loads of graham crackers instead of gingerbread. My kids now make condos in graham crackers, and they hold up well. So, did you eat all of your building materials??
Great tradition! Gingerbread houses are so much fun to make up.
Very sweet. My kids made gingerbread houses this year too.
What a cool idea!! Looks like it was a good time 🙂
yum! as a kid, I dreamt of making gingerbread houses… hey, why haven’t I made a gingerbread house? thanks, Mariko!
