I had grand plans to sew all sorts of things this weekend, but I did not sew one stitch, nor did I knit a stitch! It was still a nice weekend, though. The weather here was gorgeous, and we spent most of it getting Peter’s sailboat onto the water. Now, sailing has always been Peter’s thing. I get seasick just thinking about ocean swells, but rivers I might be able to handle!
Here’s the boat at the launch ramp on the Columbia River:
And finally on the water!
Her maiden voyage, motoring to her slip:
And finally in her slip!
I really need to sew something one of these days, though.
You should make him a sail! That would be hilarious.
yey! ouzle sets sail!
I loved sailing in the SF Delta area. Going up the Napa River was super fun. If you anchor out on a river, make sure 1) you know if there is tidal action where you are and 2) you know how strong the current is and 3) does the current CHANGE DIRECTIONS with the tide.
Making a sail isn’t all that hard, but it will eat your sewing machine for lunch. I burned out a couple motors making a “hurricane” jib for my Aries 32.
Making a sail doesn’t sound like a lot of fun, but making curtains for the windows and matchin upholstery covers for inside, I think that would be cute!
Looks like the boat is at Hayden Bay. We were there with our motor yacht for 15 years. We moved to Scappoose for something different. Happy boating. I hope the river agrees with you.
That looks like a beautiful boat.
