My mother and I went to Kinokuniya yesterday. Both of us have been avoiding the place, since we know that entering means we’ll be leaving with some purchases. Well, she walked out with a sudoku book, and I got yet another skirt book!
I think it was this skirt with the embroidered circles that pushed me over the edge:
These are cute, too:
As for the superbuzzy shop update, I lied about it happening today. We decided to wait for another order to come in, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it arrives Thursday. We’ll keep you posted, though, so don’t worry. I think it’ll be worth the wait!
Oooh, I have that book and I bought it for the same skirt! Lovely choice. I have gotten as far as cutting out and the embroidery (http://freewool.blogspot.com/2006/08/circles.html) but something about the waistband confused me, thus relegating it to the (many) works in progress pile. I can’t wait to see what you make. Was today the day for a Superbuzzy update? Can’t wait to see the new stuff.
you’d better tape a couple of measuring tapes together so you can measure my chubby ass ‘cus I’m gonna make you make me a cute damn skirt from the fabric I’m gonna buy from you!!!!
Those skirts are adorable! That’s a great pattern book. *Covet* Do you actually read the patterns in japanese, or can you just sort of look at the diagrams?
Love the circle skirt – just how wrong would it be to just embroider the circles into a ready made skirt…? I am a bad, bad craftster.
Oh, how I wish Superbuzzy would stock those books. I was disappointed recently when I went to the Kinokuniya bookstore in the mall at Nyack and their collection of women’s clothing books was really small. Sniff.
I was eyeing that same book at my last visit to my local Kinokinuya – it IS a great book. (I kept taking and putting back – hee hee, a hard decision.) Wonderfully clean designs. Can’t wait to see what you sew up. Can’t wait for the new things to be posted in the store too.
gorgeous skirts! i love that one on the cover.
Hey fellow PDXer and covetous skirt lover. Tell us more about those skirt pattern books! They’re *deelicious*! but I don’t read Japanese…
