My friend Wendy recently raved about the slushy cold coffee drinks at Dutch Bros. Coffee. Now, I am not a complete coffee know-it-all or anything, but I pride myself on being somewhat aware of what is going on in the local coffee world. I had never heard of this Dutch Bros. place. I looked it up, and heck, they are all out in the ‘burbs! Well, today I happened to be out in the ‘burbs of Gresham*, and you can bet I stopped at Dutch Bros.
The building was a little, nondescript drive-thru on a random corner, but lo and behold, there were cars lined up, and the two baristas were hipster dudes. The slushy drink is called a “Dutch Freeze,” and yes, it was quite delicious. I only had a few sips, since it is dangerous to drive while drinking these iced slushy drinks (I don’t know about you, but I am prone to brain freeze, and that makes my vision blur). When I got home I shared it with Peter, who kind of grabbed it and ran away. I went to an estate sale, and when I got back, he told me Deedle knocked over the cup, and he had to throw it away. There is no moral to this story.
*No offense to Gresham or its residents
I love that awesome moral-less story.
Also I love the rad tulips and windmiles design on that cup.
We go to Dutch Bros almost every day because the coffee is so much better than the stuff at Megacorp, and also in hopes of seeing the hot baristas (the elusive female ones).
hmmm
I think there is a moral.
BUY 2! 🙂
Awww….Gresham. I used to go there every year for orchestra competitions in high school. How nerdy is that?
Hey Mariko, I had a BVille pumpkin shake yesterday and thought of you. It was perfect–not too sweet and very pumpkin-y.
I think that the folks who owned Hiedi’s must have started that by the looks of their cute cups!
how i envy you and people on the upper west coast, you have this specialty coffee shop whereas down here in dallas, we only have star bucks. :p
naughty deedle
OMG. Icy slushy coffee sounds like heaven to me.
Yes we Oregonians are very lucky to have a wide variety of good coffee places to patronize. Even the corporate ones!
